Man thats really really good! Just on the page thats one of the best things I’ve seen in awhile. How do you feel the music and phrasing is getting along with this latest effort? I think you’ve reached a new plateau with this. I was always interested in your hobby. But this is the first time its jumped out at me.
I suppose you are probably in early iterations with phrasing and music and such? But hows that getting along for this number? I would have thought you’d be pretty pleased with how this thing is shaping up already.
Have you done any basic drumming or other musical instrument? You want to hit youtube or the State Library. Sort out the phrasing of your favourite rap guys. But also the old guys like Cole Porter and Marvin Gaye (particularly background vocals on “Lets Get It On”.)
Its like you want to be able to noodle around with creative mathematical rhythms that folks immediately subconciously log as intriguing without knowing why. Like the syllables are hitting in the same way that the sticks might be hitting if a drummer were putting together some creative patterns. And you want to go so far as to sketch out the notation as if your syllables were playing drums as it were. I think you just keep going over it and over it and over it and injecting more life and imbedded, but not ostentatious complexity, with each iteration.
I’ve always highly approved of what you were up to Kevin. But this is the first effort of yours thats jumped out on the page at me as being of real potential quality. Can you work it till it gets not a million miles from the level of BUSTA-MOVE? Or that one that goes “Don’t push me ’cause I’m close to the edge..” For some reason I cannot get youtube today.

Thanks a lot for your kind words, Graeme. I’m thinking of doing some experimenting with a drum kit and synthesiser. With rap, it’s all about the rythym of the words and the beat. You can have any sort of background music. You can have samples (Marvin Gaye is a great suggestion!), synth, or even horns or strings, but it’s all about the beat. For now, I’m just slowly developing the lyrics, but please, watch this space.
